Saving Lives, One Horse At A Time
MATCHING HORSES WITH FOREVER HOMES
If you are interested in one of the horses listed here, you can contact Phoenix Rising and/or the individual party or Rescue themselves. NOT ALL HORSES LISTED HERE ARE PROPERTY OF PHOENIX RISING HORSE RESCUE.When this site began, it was with the intention of helping anyone anywhere rehome their horse(s). Please bear that in mind when you are looking at the horses - some of these are rescues; however some are horses from an excellent background -whose owners are having to let them go for circumstances beyond their control - which we are merely helping to find new homes.
If you have a horse or horses that are no longer wanted FOR ANY REASON, please consider donating them to Phoenix Rising. We will do right by you and your equine friend: and will work to find a great new home for your horse.
If you know of any horses that are being neglected or abused, please DO NOT WAIT another day to contact us or your local law enforcement. Here in the heartland, officials are for some reason often unknowledgeable or unwilling to get involved...if that is what you've come up against, contact us and we'll help get an investigation rolling.
HELP SAVE A HORSE TODAY!
MEANWHILE....we here at Phoenix Rising are working daily to raise "ransom" money to buy horses out from under the kill buyers; provide transportation for rescued horses; purchase hay and feed; veterinarian care; training; etc.
$60 Buys One Large Round Bale.
We use 3-4 a week at PRHR. Please help!
We are also available to help place horses.
Drop us an email if you need help, or want to get involved at:
Thank you for stopping by...thank you for any help you're able to give. There are Paypay Donation Buttons throughout the site; or you can mail your contribution to the address listed at the bottom of the page. Please specify if you'd like a receipt for tax purposes, and we'll be glad to send one!
<<-- See The Skeleton Girl On The Left?
This is what neglect looks like. The owners explanation? "She's just old."However, she wasn't too old to bear a lovely little palamino foal for them...look behind her. She wasn't only skeletal; look at her matted mane.
There was simply no care here at all.
I dedicate this site to this poor little lady; and all those like her. I learned a very costly lesson with this horse. I knew the people who owned her; so I held back...knowing they were 'good people'; and probably just uneducated about how to care properly for an older horse.
Well, She was 'taken away', leaving behind the 4 mo. old foal. I lost her - didn't have time to make her remaining years comfortable... because I let myself give the owners the benefit of the doubt.
This horse haunts me. I can't stop thinking about her, and how I let her down. I see her sweet face and kind eyes; I fold and unfold the papers I'd had ready to take to the authorities to intervene on her behalf. I was just a few days too late.
IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
I'm so sorry, Little Skeleton Girl. Please forgive me.
